打招呼是英语中最基本的表达,由于中西方文化的差异,所以见面打招呼的英语也要注意。英语中打招呼和我们中文日常的打招呼差别很大。
外国人见面时通常只是说Hello或Hi或How are you doing ?或How are you doing this morning ? How are things with you ?
如果过了一段时间再见面,还可以说How is life treating you ?
若遇上熟人的话,甚至可以说(pigeon English混杂英语) Long time no see(you)用上。
初次见面时听到对方说How do you do ?时,
正确的反应也是How do you do ?
这只是个问句形式的问候语,回答对方时告诉对方你哪儿痛、哪儿不舒服就错了。
而我们不少人喜欢说I'm fine, thank you,这不符合习惯。
而初次见面分手时,我们有人常说Good-bye;但你如果仔细注意的话,
native speakers说Nice meeting you或Nice to have met you.
见面时非要打招呼说句问候语吗?
不见得。
如和西方人一起在中国乘卧铺火车,同车厢的人一大早衣着不整,头发蓬乱,拿着肥皂、梳子和牙刷穿过夹道的时候,
最适宜的做法是设法把眼睛朝窗外瞧,假装没有看见。说了Good morning反而令对方窘迫,这时你不打招呼绝非失礼。
